Federal Government Give Instructions To Banks On Helping Nigerians Due To Lockdown

The Presidential Task Force(PTF) on COVID-19 has directed banks nationwide to give skeletal services to the people all over the country
The Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force, Dr. Sani Aliyu had earlier stated that there was an exemption for banks to give skeletal services to its customers during the first duration of the lockdown and banning of movement.
But now The National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force said and has made it clear that banks are not completely closed for transactions but permitted to give skeletal services in order to reduce the hardship of the Citizens after there was an additional two more weeks of lockdown ordered by the president as there was still more cases about the COVID-19 that is still being confirmed daily.
Dr Aliyu stated that when the previous cessation of movement policy was implemented fourteen days ago, an exemption was made for banks to be allowed to engage in skeletal services to be rendered to their customers and the financial authorities released additional guidelines to the banks.
The National Coordinator of the PTF said that the Federal Government is appealing to banks to continue financial servuces, especially the availability of the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) for easy reach of funds to make things a bit easier for the citizens and also said the bank should help in providing skeletal services in the bank halls.
The Coordinator concluded by saying that, “What is important for us is for banks to comply with our advice in terms of reducing mass gatherings, having hand disinfectants at the entrance point, monitoring of temperature and making sure that they observe the physical distancing measures that we have advised,”
