*Engr. Chris Emeka Azubogu* who made the call today in Abuja, after returning from '10th Global Family Policy Forum' in Phoenix, AZ, USA, warned that with the ongoing spread of new dangerous disease, Coronavirus epidemic in some countries, the development should put our Nation on a state of alert.

*"With the information we have about the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, our country should be on alert. We should put up a precautionary measures that will put our Health Sector on state of alert to avoid taking us unaware" he said.*

The National Assembly member, representing Nnewi North/Nnewi South/Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, Engr. Azubogu also called for public enlightenment on the disease by medical experts and other NGOs, so that Nigerians will know more about it and how to stay safe.

*"Knowledge they say is power and I believe that with deliberate public enlightenment programmes regards Coronavirus, our people will be better informed about the disease and how to stay safe from contacting it, symptoms of the disease, where to report etc" he said.*

On if Nigeria have capacity to deal with epidemics like Coronavirus, Engr. Azubogu whose medical intervention programmes have recorded a total of over 900 successful free surgeries, says that Nigeria have achieved such milestones before, even when the world abandoned them to their fate during Ebola outbreak.

*"Nigeria has capacity to contain Coronavirus epidemic with the success recorded in 2014 Ebola outbreak not minding the limited support from outside then. We have committed medical personnel with capacity to tackle medical challenges, if supported. But like I said before, we must not be taken unawares on Coronavirus. Nigeria Centre for Disease Control(NCDC) should put up disease control measures" Azubogu said.*

Engr. Azubogu also called on the Federal Ministry of Health to mobilize their State counterparts and private sector on emergency engagement on the Coronavirus outbreak.

*On Laser fever, Azubogu called for new strategy towards containing the disease in the country.*

"There should be also a new strategy towards containing laser fever in the country" Engr Azubogu said .

..........................................

Above was *Engr. Chris Emeka Azubogu*'s call as at the time Nigerians were seeing Coronavirus as China and Foriegn thing that won't have a place in Nigeria. That was also a time most state Governments don't consider CoVid-19 as a Nigerian issue and therefore did not see reasons to adopt Proactive measures as suggested by *Engr Chris Emeka Azubogu.*

*Adopting Proactive measures as against Reactive is one of the  Leadership traits and I pray that going forward, we should be more proactive than Reactive.*

*#StaySafe Let's win this together**
