International Youths Day, Azubogu calls for new political economy

*#International Youths Day: Azubogu Calls For New Political - Economy*

*- Insists that a system where majority of young people roam the streets in search of jobs is dangerous*

*Engr. Chris Emeka Azubogu* has called for the evolution of a new political-economy.

*The call was contained in a statement released through his media office in commemoration of this year’s International Youth Day earlier today.*

Pained that any society where a greater number of her active population roam the streets in search of non-existing jobs is dangerous, the federal Lawmaker who represents Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo federal constituency in the House of Representatives said:

*"We are already in danger with the high number of unemployed youths in our society today.*

"We have allowed this dangerous trend to escalate to crisis point. And the only way out of the danger posed by the regrettable presence of an army of unemployed and angry youths rest squarely on public policy formulation, which we cannot divorce from Leadership. Hence the Political-Economy question", he said.

*The lawmaker known across Anambra state as #MrProject, counseled that people in leadership positions should use the occasion of the 2020 International Youth Day to deeply reflect on how to create a thriving economy that takes into consideration the plight of the unemployed, especially those in the youth bracket.*

*His words:*

"We have to prioritize job creation and human capital development at this critical time in our lives as a people. That’s the most effective way to address the unemployment challenge facing the nation today. Most of the things you see some of us pursuing through institutional approach are things that will create jobs for our people”.

*The Anambra born Data Expert and federal lawmaker noted that our youths are very resilient and therefore require strong institutional intervention to marry their individual efforts – a development he believes will also ramp up the nation's economic growth.*

"Without coming up with strong institutional intervention policies that will transform the youth population into national 'assets', there is no hope for the nation. I therefore call for new Political cum Economic direction that will shape our young people into ‘a positive agenda setting group’" Azubogu concluded.
