COMMUNIQUE ISSUED BY THE LEADERSHIP OF ALL TRANSPORT OPERATORS IN EBONYI STATE ON 11/05/2020 By EZEIGBO OJUKWU
Following the outcome of the meeting which was well attended by the Department of Parks Development and the leadership of all transport operators in the State held at the Multipurpose Hall, Cabinet office Abakaliki on 11th May, 2020, the following resolutions were made:
1.That the stakeholders of the various transport operators in Ebonyi State appreciates the state government for her people-oriented policies and programmes which has impacted positively on the lives of all and sundry. We therefore unreservedly thank the Governor of Ebonyi State for the proactive measures so far formulated to curtail the spread of Covid-19 in the state and pledge our total commitment in partnering him to win the war against this global pandemic.
2.That any vehicle, tricycle, or motorcycle caught while attempting to cross the border should be charged to the Anti Covid court with immediate effect.
3.That there should be a total overhaul of the security personnel at the borders in order to fish out the few bad eggs who aid travellers to cross our borders.
4.That all vehicles both at the borders and the central park in the state must be profiled with manifest in order to track the records of all passengers.
5.That we urge the SA on Parks Development to form a formidable Task Force to man the borders and the central park so as to ensure strict compliance with the precautionary measures adopted by the State government.
6.That no commercial vehicle is allowed to move straight into the International Market without first being profiled the designated park opposite the International Market. This is because some unscrupulous commuters have deployed a means of smuggling passengers into the under the guise of carrying essential commodities.
