Kebbi discharges last two COVID-19 patients

The government of Kebbi State has discharged the last two COVID-19 patients in its isolation centre after their recovery.

This was made known by the Task Force Chairman on COVID-19, who is also the Commissioner for Health, Jafar Muhammed. He stated that the follow up tests conducted on them came back negative.

He said that with the latest discharge, the state no longer had any active case of COVID-19.

"Our two remaining COVID-19 patients at the isolation center in Kebbi Medical Center, Kalgo, are discharged today.

So, by implication, they are free to be integrated back into the mainstream society because their results turned out to be negative after their two weeks stay in the isolation centre," Muhammed said.

Kebbi State recorded 32 cases of persons infected with Coronavirus.

President Donald Trump signs executive order

On Thursday, the President of the United States of America, President Donald Trump signed an executive order seeking to limit the broad legal protection that federal law currently provides to social-media and other online platforms.

This move was probably triggered by the occurrence few days ago when Twitter called two of his tweets "potentially misleading".

Speaking from the Oval Office ahead of signing the order, Trump accused Twitter of acting as an editor “with a viewpoint” and described the platform’s fact-check of his tweets as “political activism”.

He said that he would delete his Twitter account “in a heartbeat” if he felt the news media were fair to him. He said,

“We’re here today to defend free speech from one of the greatest dangers.

A small handful of social media monopolies controls a vast portion of all public and private communications in the United States.

They've had unchecked power to censor, restrict, edit, shape, hide, alter, virtually any form of communication between private citizens and large public audiences."

Trump said that if his lawyers could find a way to legally shut down Twitter, “I would do it.”

The order escalates an already heated fight over how big social-media platforms handle politically charged content.

The companies long resisted stronger moderation efforts and have struggled to address growing pressure to combat the proliferation of misinformation and other problematic content in a way that avoids fueling criticism that they are inconsistent, biased or stifling free expression.

The executive order marks the Trump administration’s most aggressive effort against social-media companies.

The President has threatened for years to counteract what he and many conservatives see as a systemic bias against their political positions on social media.

His campaign on Thursday sent supporters an email seeking to raise money off the President’s feud with Twitter.

Messi is the only player better than Neymar - former Barca president Rosell

Former Barcelona president Sandro Rosell said he would try to sign Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar as he is the second-best player in the world behind Lionel Messi.

Neymar left Barca for PSG in a world-record €222 million ($246m) transfer in 2017, but the Brazilian forward continues to be linked with a return to Camp Nou.

The 28-year-old failed to make his way back to La Liga champions Barca at the start of the 2019-20 season and he is reportedly a transfer target again.

Rosell was president when Barca signed Neymar from Santos in 2013 and the 56-year-old heaped praise on the Brazilinternational.

"If I were the president of Barca, I would try to sign Neymar," Rosell told COPE and Radio Marca.

"He is the second-best player in the world after Messi and fits perfectly into the philosophy of the club.

"But with experience, he would sign him with two contracts, one sports and the other behavioural."

Since swapping Barca for PSG, Neymar has won three successive Ligue 1 titles, to go with Coupe de France, Coupe de la Ligue and Trophee des Champions honours.

Neymar scored 13 league goals before Ligue 1 was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic and PSG were eventually declared champions.

Barca, meanwhile, have been tipped to sign Inter star Lautaro Martinez in the off-season.

However, Inter have insisted Martinez will not be sold unless his release clause – reportedly worth €111m ($123m) – is met.

Rosell however believes Barca shouldn't pay such a high fee and instead try to work out a swap deal of some kind.

"I would not sign Lautaro for €111 million but I would try to exchange two players," Rosell said.

La Liga has been cleared to return on June 8 following its suspension in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Barcelona currently hold a two-point lead over second-placed Real Madrid

Another former Barcelona president, Joan Gaspart, recently claimed La Liga would have been cancelled if Zinedine Zidane's side were top of the table when the season was suspended.

"If Madrid had finished as leader before the confinement, La Liga would have ended," he told Tertulia del 10 del Barca.

Jorginho's agent claims 'two top European clubs' have made contact over Chelsea midfielder

The Italy international is being strongly linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge ahead of the summer transfer window.

Jorginho's agent Joao Santos has claimed that "two top European clubs" have been in contact over the Chelsea midfielder's availability.

Chelsea lured Jorginho to Stamford Bridge from Napoli in a £57 million ($70m) deal back in 2018, beating reigning Premier League champions Manchester City to his signature in the process.

The 28-year-old followed Maurizio Sarri to west London when the Italian tactician left Stadio San Paolo to succeed Antonio Conte in the Blues' hot seat.

Jorginho arrived in England with a sterling reputation as a technical master capable of dictating the pace of games from a deep-lying position, but failed to live up to expectations during his first full season with Chelsea.

Sarri made his way back to Italy after receiving an offer from Juventus, and Jorginho's future was initially called into question when Frank Lampard inherited the managerial reigns ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.

The Italy international has since defied his critics to emerge as a key member of Lampard's starting XI, racking up 32 starts across all competitions this campaign.

Jorginho's current contract at the Bridge is not due to expire until 2023, but talk of a possible return to Italy continues to follow him despite his impressive form in a Chelsea shirt over the past year.

A possible reunion with Sarri at Juventus has been mooted, however, Santos insists that the only clubs to have made an approach for Jorginho in 2020 have been from outside of Serie A.

The Chelsea star's agent told Radio Musica Television: “If you ask me if Sarri likes Jorginho, I’d say ‘yes’ due to their history.

“I can’t say anything about the transfer market as I’m not in touch with anyone right now.

“Jorginho still has three years left on his contract and is doing well at Chelsea, but if a big enough offer comes in then a deal could go through.

“In this sense, two top European clubs, not Italian ones, contacted me.”

'I wouldn’t say I was happy' - Marsch admits viral video of Liverpool half-time team talk made him 'uncomfortable'

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has said he would never allow his talks to be broadcast like the American manager's now-famous speech.

Red Bull Salzburg manager Jesse Marsch has admitted that his now-famous half-time speech against Liverpool has made him a bit "uncomfortable" after his team talk went viral.

The speech came during the Austrian side's trip to Anfield, a match that saw Liverpool hold on to a narrow 4-3 victory despite being 3-0 up within 36 minutes.

After a goal from Hwang Hee-chan before the half, Marsh lit a fire under his RB Salzburg side with his half-time talk, which went viral as result of his side's fightback into the match.

Goals from future Liverpool signing Takumi Minamino and megastar striker Erling Haaland saw Salzburg fight back before Mohammed Salah sealed the win with a 69th-minute goal.

Marsch's opposite manager Jurgen Klopp has since said he "would leave the club" if Liverpool ever broadcast one of his team talks.

However, the American manager says he understands why there is interest in that kind of behind-the-scenes footage, even if he isn't completely comfortable being at the centre of it.

"I wouldn’t say I was happy - when all of these documentary videos come out, they can be uncomfortable," Marsch told the Blood Red Podcast.

"I hate watching myself speak German, it’s painful! But I went through this in the U.S. – people love this content now.

"I watched The Last Dance with Michael Jordan as soon as it would come out and I could not wait to watch the next episodes - real life is the most interesting story.

"We had an interesting story to tell this year with our club and the Champions League - it had been so many years that we had been fighting to get there and we finally achieved that goal.

"People wanted to see our story and in the end, the half-time video, the only thing I always say about content inside of a team is you have to make sure it represents not just one individual, but it represents the whole group.

"In that moment, I felt that the focus was a little too much on the coach and not so much on the full team."

Marsch went on to say that his experience at Anfield, and in the Champions League as a whole, was positive.

"In the end, regardless of what was said at half-time, the team and the coaching staff, we all managed to be better in the second half together - that’s what is important," he said.

"The players are young and they haven’t been doing this as long so maybe it’s a dream to play in the Champions League against Liverpool but my focus was preparing our team.

"That was a big part of the message and why I handled half-time the way I did - because I knew that we could be so much better."

Man allegedly beats pregnant wife to death

Reports reaching us has it that a man allegedly beat his pregnant wife to death. This is after taking his Pastor along to beg and bring her back home following their initial separation due to constant abuse.

Here is the full story written by Prince Kelvin Iyase Osawuru

MY LATE SISTER WAS A VICTIM OF AN ABUSIVE MARRIAGE

A lot of friends have been asking me what really happened to my sister..

There you go, this man on the picture is the reason behind her death...

The shortest summary I can give goes thus;

This man turned his wife to a punching bag for reasons best known to him, to the point that our family had to retrieve my sister and her two kids from him

One would have thought that my sister would take that as a relief, but NO love kept finding it's way back, she will go as far as clandestinely frolicking with him and along the line she conceived her third and last child

Sometimes last year, this man came in company of his family and pastor begging to have his wife back, he won't molest her ever again, and so my sister agreed joyously to go back to her sweet hubby not knowing that she won't get another chance at redemption...

TO THE MATTER OF THE DAY

This woman beater now killer, still beat my pregnant sister mercilessly again, hitting her stomach, to the point that unknown to her, the beating had affected her UTERUS, in no distant time precisely( 2 days ago) , my sis entered emergency labour and was booked for a cesarean section (CS)

The baby was successfully out, that's when complications arising from the internal injuries she had suffered started, the rest is an history too painful to even talk about, and she died eventually..

I'm sharing this personal story basically because i know that amongst those who will read this post, are ladies definitely going through this inhumane act of abuse in relationship/marriage... This may be your last chance to leave that beast now before it is too late..

As a man, if your woman or wife does the height of unforgivable thing to you, please send her back to her parents, you paid BRIDE PRICE, didn't pay for her life..

As for this guy on the picture, i congratulate you my brother because you don win award.

PS: the video attached is not my sister, but is just used to buttress what she went through...

Rep to FG - "Open airports"

A member of the House of Representatives, Akinola Alabi, has urged the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 to open the country’s airports.

Alabi, who represents Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency, also pushed for interstate travel to be allowed in the next phase of the easing of lockdown.

“Next phase of easing lockdown. Allow interstate travel. Then open the airports and introduce some safety measures,” he tweeted.

The country’s airports and airspace were shut in March by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), as part of efforts to contain COVID-19.

Commercial flight operations, both local and international, had stopped forthwith but the President’s directive allowed the operation of essential flights including those for medical and evacuation purposes, amongst others, which are subject to the authorisation of the Federal Ministry of Aviation and agencies under it.

On May 6, the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, announced that the closure of the country’s airports and airspace were further extended by four weeks after due consultations with experts.

2021 : INEC works towards electronic voting

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it will “work towards the full introduction of electronic voting in major elections starting from 2021.”

Nigeria, Africa's most populous nation and largest economy, still votes and collates manually, even though registration for voting has been digitized.

However, human interference in a chunk of the balloting process has led to results being contested in courtrooms following allegations of widespread rigging.

In a policy document, INEC boss Mahmood Yakubu, wrote that the electoral umpire will trial the use of e-voting machines at the earliest possible time, after the forthcoming Edo and Ondo governorship elections, but will also “work towards the full introduction of electronic voting in major elections starting from 2021.”
