Just in and Breaking: WHO Considers Madagascar’s Herbal Drink as Possible Treatment for COVID-19

SWITZERLAND, MAY 05 – Madagascar’s much touted herbal COVID-19 cure may have received some support from the World Health Organization (WHO) after the global health body stated that it welcomes innovations around the world including repurposing drugs, traditional medicines and developing new therapies in the search for potential treatments for COVID-19.
This was contained in a press release issued by the WHO on Monday evening.
“WHO recognizes that traditional, complementary and alternative medicine has many benefits and Africa has a long history of traditional medicine and practitioners that play an important role in providing care to populations. Medicinal plants such as Artemisia annua are being considered as possible treatments for COVID-19 and should be tested for efficacy and adverse side effects.
“Africans deserve to use medicines tested to the same standards as people in the rest of the world. Even if therapies are derived from traditional practice and natural, establishing their efficacy and safety through rigorous clinical trials is critical,” WHO stated in the release.
Today’s Echo understands that Madagascar is building a factory to mass-produce a drink from the extracts of the artimisia annua plant, which is used to treat malaria. The factory will be operational within a month, according to President Andry Rajoelina.
“Our researchers and scientists are doing the necessary to make our coronavirus remedy a drug that meets the standards,” he said on state TV.
Madagascar’s herbal drink has also received a boost from other African countries. The president of Tanzania, John Magufuli, has said he’s sending a plane to Madagascar to fetch the tonic, and Rajoelina said on Twitter that Equatorial Guinea’s vice minister for health had arrived in the country to procure an unknown quantity. Other countries that have shown interest are Senegal, Guinea-Bissau and Comoros, Rajoelina said.
African governments through their Ministers of Health adopted a resolution urging Member States to produce evidence on the safety, efficacy and quality of traditional medicine at the Fiftieth Session of the WHO Regional Committee for Africa in 2000.
Countries also agreed to undertake relevant research and require national medicines regulatory agencies to approve medicines in line with international standards, which include the product following a strict research protocol and undergoing tests and clinical trials. These studies normally involve hundreds of people under the monitoring of the national regulatory authorities and may take quite a few months in an expedited process.
WHO is working with research institutions to select traditional medicine products which can be investigated for clinical efficacy and safety for COVID-19 treatment. In addition, the Organization will continue to support countries as they explore the role of traditional health practitioners in prevention, control, and early detection of the virus as well as case referral to health facilities.
Over the past two decades, WHO has been working with countries to ensure safe and effective traditional medicine development in Africa by providing financial resources and technical support. WHO has supported clinical trials, leading 14 countries to issue marketing authorization for 89 traditional medicine products which have met international and national requirements for registration. Of these, 43 have been included in national essential medicines lists. These products are now part of the arsenal to treat patients with a wide range of diseases including malaria, opportunistic infections related to HIV, diabetes, sickle cell disease and hypertension. Almost all countries in the WHO African region have national traditional medicine policies, following support from WHO.
“As efforts are under way to find treatment for COVID-19, caution must be taken against misinformation, especially on social media, about the effectiveness of certain remedies. Many plants and substances are being proposed without the minimum requirements and evidence of quality, safety and efficacy. The use of products to treat COVID-19, which have not been robustly investigated can put people in danger, giving a false sense of security and distracting them from hand washing and physical distancing which are cardinal in COVID-19 prevention, and may also increase self-medication and the risk to patient safety.
WHO welcomes every opportunity to collaborate with countries and researchers to develop new therapies and encourages such collaboration for the development of effective and safe therapies for Africa and the world.

In a video he shared to his page, a young man was filmed outside a crowded commercial bank in Lagos where he appeared to confirm that he exchanged his spot for N10k.
He wrote alongside the video: 'Lagos is crazy mehn, got to bank as early as 7am and I got number 135 and guess what??numbers 1-10 are people that doesn’t have account with the bank and now they’re offering to sell each numbers for 10k. Lagos nawa.'

*Referring to Peter Obi as a philanthropist is tantamount to saying that 'an elder learnt how to make use of left hand at an old age' .* Evang. Chinedu Obigwe

One thing I have been saying and will continue saying is that Peter Obi is naturally wicked and also bewitched by unforgiving spirit.

Yesterday, I was chatting with a PDP politician and in our chat, he said that Peter Obi is not a character that practice what he preaches.

I agreed with him because if you listen to Peter Obi talk and you mistakenly fall for his deception antics just know that you have entered one chance bus.

People like Rev Fr.Mbaka knows him very well hence the reason why Mbaka didn't fall for his deception antics.

It's on record that the constructive criticism of people like me,a PDP stalwart in the person of Barrs Nwankwo (Nwankwo)and few others compelled Peter Obi to be sharing Cartons of Paracetamol, Face Mask, Hand gloves and 1 infrared Thermometer each to mission Hospitals as his own Palliatives to cushion the effects of Coronavirus.

In all honesty, what Peter Obi did is penny wise pounds foolish.

Those things he is sharing as Palliatives to mission Hospitals are not scarce in those Hospitals and they are not what the people need at this point in time.

The highest thing Coronavirus pandemics brought into our nation is Hungervirus and the Hungervirus is ravaging the whole nation.

Nigerians are in dire need of food as Palliatives to cushion the effects of the Hungervirus and that is why even the Federal government sent food items to the worst hit States by the pandemics.

Various State government are also sharing food as Palliatives.

The expectation of ndi Anambra and Nigerians at large has been dashed with Peter Obi's distribution of Paracetamol, Face Masks ,Hand gloves and 1 infrared Thermometer each to mission Hospitals as Coronavirus Palliatives.

Those items he is distributing as Palliatives are rampant in our Country as at today.

Face Mask is now everywhere because of government awareness on the need for people to be leaving their various homes with face mask.

Its now obvious that Peter Obi does not have any good adviser and he is not also reasonable because if he is reasonable, he will not abandon the pressing need of the masses to be chasing shadows.

Whatever that is worth doing is worth doing well but Peter Obi as a master of deceit will do anything well.

One thing I observed is that the more you look the less you see is now a way of life for Peter Obi.

If you see Valentine Obienyem and the other Olumba Olumba bewitched e-rats of Peter Obi giving bold caption to the Palliatives distribution story , you will think that he is distributing items that are the pressing need of the people at this Coronavirus pandemics trying times but when you read it, you will be disappointed.

I don't know who advised him to be distributing Paracetamol and few other things that are not the pressing need of the people to mission Hospitals.

Peter Obi as an unforgiving sadist , avoided making any donation to Anambra State government owned Hospitals and nobody is begrudging him for that but for him not to remember his Agulu people is tantamount to him taking wickedness to the highest heights.

One obvious fact about Peter Obi is that he takes pride in telling you that he is a billionaire from birth but his own type of billionaire is a billionaire that doesn't want people to eat even the crumbs that falls from his dinning table in his lifetime.

What Peter Obi is sharing to mission Hospitals will not cure his stinginess disease.

The items he is sharing still portrayed him as a stingy man.

The acts of philanthropy is strange to Peter Obi and difficult for him to practice.

MKO Abiola of blessed memory in one of his interview was referred to as the richest man in Africa and he said no that he is not the richest man in Africa.

He rather preferred being referred to as a rich man that puts food on the table of the downtrodden more than every other rich man in Africa.

But here in Anambra, we have a deceitful Peter Obi that prefers being referred to as a billionaire from birth but he will not allow the poor to pick even the crumbs that falls from his dinning table and he will not also invite them to wine and dine with him talk more of helping them.

Telling me that Peter Obi is a philanthropist is tantamount to saying that an elder learnt how to use left hand at his or her old age and we all know that it's impossible.

Peter Obi is stingy, wicked and unforgiving.

He has proved me right with the distribution of something that will not have direct and immediate benefits to the masses as Palliatives in this Coronavirus pandemics trying times.

As at today, what Peter Obi is distributing as Palliatives is not impressing at all and am stating without any fear of contradiction that he has succeeded in portraying himself as a shameless man with the distribution of those items.

 Daalu nu.

Just in! Endeavour to appreciate Osodieme kind gestures for the downtrodden people for such kind gesture to locate you.* by Evang. Chinedu Obigwe

It is said that if you appreciate good things done for your fellow human being, favour will locate you in your own point of need.

We truly need to celebrate  and rejoice with those that benefitted from Osodieme good heart that is overflowing with milk of kindness, so that we can also tap from their blessings.

Don't be a sadist by not celebrating with them.

Celebrate them and eulogies Osodieme for touching their lives positively because by so doing your own divine blessing will knock on your door.

Don't be a witch by not celebrating your fellow human beings that God used Osodieme to favour.

Now let me tell you the gist as it happened today.

Her Excellency Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano popularly known as the undisputed Anambra Mother Theresa favoured two indigent widows by donating two bungalows to them.

We all know that Osodieme build Houses with borehole in the compound, furnishes them and donates it to the poorest of the poor among the indigent widows in Anambra.

That is exactly what she did today.

Do you know the reason why she likes fishing out the poorest of the poor among the widows, the reason is because her understanding of philanthropy is touching the lives of those that cannot pay you back positively.

Her acts of philanthropy is not something she engages in with the expectation of getting something in return.

One of the widow that was lucky to be favoured by Osodieme is Mrs ifeoma Ogbuanukwu from Akwaihedi in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The other widow is from igboukwu in Aguata LGA of Anambra State.

What Osodieme did is that she demolished their mud houses and built a befitting edifice for them.

I stand to be corrected, I don't think that since the history of Anambra State creation that ndi Anambra have been lucky to be blessed with a 1st Lady like Osodieme whose heart is overflowing with milk of kindness that builds a befitting edifice for dash to indigent widows.

Osodieme is the only 1st Lady that made that history in Anambra State.

If you add the two houses to the 27 Houses that she built and donated to other
indigent widows, it will be a total of 29 Houses.

Now do you know why the Houses she donated to the widows from Akwaihedi and igboukwu are special, they are special because she did it at a period people of the World are in difficult times.

Osodieme is truly a rare gem.

She is a blessing to ndi Anambra especially the less privileged ones.

My prayer is for God to reward her abundantly for touching lives positively in our society.

Daalu.

Is My Governor losing it? Communal war in Anambra from Anambra West LGA to now Ayamelum LGA by Okechukwu Onyia

There is ongoing Communal war between Umumbo and Omor communities.

Report said that many have been killed and many houses destroyed.

That we could not nip crisis like this in the bud, get me worried.

I do not want to believe that Governor Obiano led Govt is now helpless to the extent that Anambra State is now a battle ground for bloodsheding by irresponsible individuals.

There should be consequences for such killings and wasting properties in Anambra State in name of any disagreement.

Constant Communal wars under Governor Obiano led Administration is not only damaging the image of the State, but also messing the image of his administration.

As a citizen, I want Gov Obiano to stand up
and be counted at this critical time!

Gov Mbadinuju stood up and made sure that Aguleri/Umueri/Umuoba war ended and other succeeding Governors sustained the established peace.

Let me end this by saying that Government of Anambra State led by Governor Obiano is telling the world that they can not police the state.

This are two farming communities in the State for goodness sake!

Arrest all the people involved in this nonsense!!!
